A member on this site has had her husband injured in an accident and unable to work for a few months.
Her daughter was also hospitalized. They are behind on house and utility payments. The company has shut off gas.
It is cold where they live. What can they do - any suggestions?

The gas company is unwilling to accept a partial payment of $125. Here is the letter they received:

"Thanks for your reply. In order to restore service, we would need a payment of $617.31. This consists of the past due balance of $392.31, plus $15.00 reconnect fee, plus the full deposit of $210.00. You will need to call us at 801-853-7400 or 1-800-323-5517 to update your application, make payment and schedule turn on. We are available to take your call Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If this is a medical emergency, we would need to fax a medical letter to your doctor for completion. This would guarantee gas service for 30 days. If this form is received an approved prior to 5 p.m., the gas would be turned on the same day. The other option for same day turn on would be with an additional connection fee of $100 plus tax. This must be paid through one of our representatives. Again, you would need to call us at the above number. Thanks, Lorrie Consumer Affairs Questar Gas"

Well my family and I are in dire straits rt now. Our power has been cut off and I have noone that I can even borrow the money from. I'm disabled and I only receive $674 a month in disability and $254 in TANF. I was blessed to be able to get on the govt assisted program Section 8 but I stand about to lose that if I can't get the electricity back on. I need a total of $1618 to restore power. I have a pledge for $475 from the Dept of Social Services and I have $550 myself. That leaves a balance of about $570 or so...I will except any type of donation or even information on agencies that may help. Thk u

Hi...I'm a single, disabled mother of 3. I'm in need of help with my electric bill and as of rt now our power is off. I was on the budget and everything was going well until about Feb when I developed a tooth infection. Well I ended up being in the bed for two months until I could save enough for oral surgery. I had to get the 2 teeth removed because they were effecting my heart, which is y I receive disability. Well after paying for that to get done my entire household budget went haywire. I was kicked off the budget billing program and it made my whole bill come do. I paid $571 June and July. I still owe a pretty big balance...if u can be of any assistance please help. Until then I will continue to hustle. I have to pay $1183 to get them reconnected and as of rt now I have $550....
